evaluateStarknetSmartContractTransaction

Evaluates a Starknet smart contract transaction using simulation/dry-run functionality before actual execution. This allows developers to test contract interactions, validate transaction parameters, and predict outcomes without consuming gas or modifying blockchain state. The function supports both read-only calls (view functions) and write transaction simulations.

For read-only operations, this performs a direct contract call to retrieve data from the blockchain state. For write operations, this simulates the transaction execution and validates whether it would succeed, providing crucial feedback before committing resources to an actual transaction.

Read more about Starknet transactions and simulation: https://docs.starknet.io/architecture-and-concepts/network-architecture/transactions/

Return: For read-only operations, returns the result of the function call. For write operations, returns success/failure status with error details if the transaction would fail.

-------------------- Request --------------------

Example 1: Using function name with structured parameters

evaluateStarknetSmartContractTransaction( "starknet_contract_address"="0x0471...938D", "function_name"="transfer", "data"=[["ContractAddress", "0x0175...A767"], ["u256", "100000000000000000"]], "is_read_only"=False, "resource_bounds_mapping"=ResourceBoundsMapping( l1_gas=ResourceBounds(10000, 50000), l2_gas=ResourceBounds(1000, 3000), l1_data=ResourceBounds(8000, 10000) ), "account_id"=1 )

Example 2: Using function selector with simple data array, for a read only situation:

evaluateStarknetSmartContractTransaction( "0x0471...938D", "0x035a...af33", ["0x0175...A767"], True )

starknet_contract_addressstringThe Starknet contract address to interact with.

function_namestringThe name of the contract function to call. For read-only operations, this should be the function entry point. For write operations, this is the function name to be executed.

dataarrayTransaction data in list format. For read-only operations, can be either [["type", "value"], ["type", "value"]] or ["value", "value"]. For write operations, must be in the format [["type", "value"], ["type", "value"]].

is_read_onlybooleanWhether this is a read-only contract call (true) or a write transaction simulation (false).

resource_bounds_mappingobjectMapping of ResourceBounds objects to set up a smart contract transaction. with list of l1 gas.

account_idintegerThe account ID to use for this operation. Required only for write operations.

specific_from_addressstringThe specific address to send from. Optional for write operations.
