Adding New Accounts
This article describes how to create and manage Accounts on the Cold Vault.
Accounts are entities in the system that are used to segregate funds belonging to different client organizations. Each account holds all the currencies supported in the system along with their respective Cold Vault and MPC addresses and balances.
Segwit Native (bech32) Address Support for BTC: Segwit native support is the default configuration for newly created accounts. Our legacy address method, P2SH, can be manually selected if desired.
Creating Accounts
To create an account:
- Go to the Accounts page on the Cold Vault.
- Click New Account.
- Name the account. The name must be between 3 and 40 characters long, and can only contain alphanumeric characters (both lowercase and uppercase), underscores, parentheses, spaces, and hyphens. The name must not begin or end with a space or tab; only single spaces between words are accepted.
- Set the account ID for the account.

Once the Accounts are created, the system Admin can see them on the Cold Vault and the Desktop app.

Account configuration
There are two types of Accounts:
- Endpoint (Segregated) Account - Presumes the funds are kept either on the Main address or deposit wallets that can exist in that account. In this type of account the end-user can see his funds at any time on the wallets.
Segregated Account balances are not presented on the Main Dashboard and not calculated by the system. You won't see the Segregated account based transaction on the transaction page.
- Omnibus Account - Structured account that presumes that under the main Account address there will be deposit addresses; funds once deposited will not be kept on those deposit addresses in the Blockchain, but collected to the Main account address by the Custody Infrastructure Collector.
The Custody Infrastructure platform supports any combination of omnibus and segregated accounts. For example, a specific client can have any number of omnibus accounts and any number of segregated accounts.
Segregated Accounts are usually used for large clients that prefer to see their funds on chain at any time.
Filtering segregated addresses is only possible in the uMPC Proxy . To filter accounts:
- Navigate to the Addresses pane of the uMPC Proxy vault.
- Select Segregated Account in the Type filter field.

Balance Information
This section allows the user to determine the ratio of funds in this account which will be held in the Cold Vault as opposed to the MPC. It defines the automatic balancing ratio between the Cold Vault account and its counterpart address on the MPC.
Auto balancing settings
When checked, the checkbox indicates that funds should be automatically balanced in accordance with the ratio determined by the customer.
- If the total amount is lower than the configured amount in the Minimum Amount in FIAT, the account will not be automatically balanced.
- Some of the native currencies can't be used for auto-balancing to the cold vault (e.g. Near, Cosmos, Polkadot).
Maximum Hot Percentage - The highest percentage of funds that can be held in the MPC before triggering the auto balance function.
Approvers and Transaction notifications
Non-admin users who have view permissions on an account can be configured to receive transaction notifications or act as approvers of Transaction Policy changes on an account.

A user with the default permission set can only work with the main account. To work with other accounts, a user must first be added to a User Group that has permissions on the desired account.
MPC-related Accounts can be created and managed on the MPC.
