Stake Starknet via the uMPC
Starknet staking on the uMPC uses an approval-based flow. First, you approve an amount of STRK for staking. Then, you delegate some or all of the approved amount to a validator. You can later increase the approved amount, add delegation, undelegate, redelegate, or change the rewards address.
Staking Starknet on the uMPC is performed from the main dashboard or via the Staking page.
In order to stake Starknet tokens ensure you have the following information:
- A Wallet to send the Starknet from
- A Validator address to send the Starknet to
- Amount of STRK to stake
- A transaction policy that allows you to make a Staking transaction and permits the amount you are transferring
To stake Starknet two staking transactions must be performed in the Staking Transaction window:
- An initial Approve staking transaction authorizes the staking contract to use a specified amount of STRK for staking. This does not delegate the STRK yet.
All staking must start with this Approve transaction. If you later need to add more STRK to be staked, use the IncreaseAllowance transaction to increase the approved amount. After the IncreaseAllowance transaction, the combined amount of STRK is available for staking.
Alternatively, you can make a second Approve transaction. However, this replaces the first approval transaction. As a result, the total currency available for staking the amount sent in this second transaction and not a combination of both.
- A second Delegate staking transaction performs the actual delegation process. When setting the amount to delegate it cannot be more than the total approved in the Approve or IncreaseAllowance transactions. It can be less than that the approved amount.
Additional staking operations, such as AddDelegation, UndelegateStake, and Redelegate Stake, are available depending on the staking state.
This process must be carried out for each validator that you wish to stake with.

Stake (Delegate) your Starknet
As described in the introduction, there are two stages to the staking process. First, approving the amount to be assigned for staking. Second, delegating it to the validator.
Approve and IncreaseAllowance transactions
To create an Approve or IncreaseAllowance transaction:
In the Staking Transaction window, select the From Wallet.
Select the To Validator account.
Select the Operation type. For an initial allocation of funds you must select Approve.

For further transactions, to add additional funds, select IncreaseAllowance.
Or to reset the funds allocated in the original transaction, select Approve again.
Enter the Amount to stake.
Choose to leave the Preset fees or select Custom and the Edit icon

Select Request to stake.
The transaction success pane appears summarizing the transaction.
Select View transaction to see the full transaction details.
Delegate the approved STRK
To delegate the STRK funds approved for staking, perform a Delegation staking transaction. This is the same process as an Approve transaction, just selecting Delegate as the operation. Once the initial Approve transaction is performed, the Delegate operation option is added to the list of available operations.
However, if all funds are undelegated at a later stage the Delegation operation will again not appear in the list of operations available.
To delegate funds:
In the Staking Transaction window, select the From wallet.
Select the To validator account.
Select the Delegation Operation type.

Enter the Amount and set the Fees. Optionally add a note.
Select Request to stake.

Select Close.
If you are adding another delegate transaction to a validator that you have previously delegated to, the Operation will be AddDelegation.

Split a stake
There is no Split stake operation, however, the equivalent of splitting a stake can be performed by undelegating part of your stake. This is performed using the UndelegateStake operation listed below.
Undelegate your STRK
STRK can be unstaked, or undelegated, by choosing the UndelegateStake operation in the Staking Transaction. You can undelegate part or all of the total funds delegated to the validator.

Select the UndelegateStake Operation type.

Enter the Amount and set the Fees. Optionally add a note.
Select Request to stake.
The Transaction request sent pane opens and updates to show that the request has been sent successfully.
If there is a problem with the request, for example, the amount of STRK is too small a message appears explaining the error.

Select Close.
Redelegate a stake to another validator
Undelegated currency that still remains in the Approved state can be used again to delegate to a different validator. This is done by selecting the Redelegate Stake at the top of the To section of the Transaction window and then assigning a new validator to redelegate to.
In the Staking Transaction window, select the From wallet.
In the To section, select Redelegate Stake in the top row.

Select the To validator account.

Change the rewards address
When undelegating the staked currency, you can send the rewards to a different address than the wallet used to create the staking process. This is done by selecting Change Reward Address at the top of the To section of the Transaction window and then assigning an account to send the rewards to.
In the Staking Transaction window, select the From Wallet.
In the To section, select Change Reward Address in the top row.

Select theTo validator account.
